Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Training with Mercy Corps

With the global climate change phenomenon and increasing number of natural disasters, to mitigate their impact and help prepare the communities at risk, CDA conducted Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Trainings with Mercy Corps. Assistance in Kyauk Phyu Township which suffered from Cyclone Giri on 22nd October 2010.

Due to the early warning system, Rakhine State, although a disaster prone area, suffered much less destruction than Nargis Cyclone.  CDA with a team of 6, conducted DRR trainings in 13 villages in 4 village tracts in the township.

The DRR trainings were conducted on preparation before, during and after floods, cyclones, storms, earthquakes and fires.

A total number of 459 (313 female and 146 male) including Committee Members and communities attended the trainings.
